Euroleague: Bayern signs Serge Ibaka, an NBA coup

The big death knell comes from FC Bayern Munich, who announced a one-year contract with Serge Ibaka. The Congolese big man with a Spanish passport is therefore returning to Europe after 14 years and over a thousand NBA games under his belt. He started last season in Milwaukee with just 15 games and then moved to Indiana, where he was immediately released and ended his NBA career, but the 1989-born (208 cm) player still has a say in Europe. The title with Toronto in 2019 is the culmination of a career in which Ibaka was named the league’s best shot blocker twice (2012 and 2013) and was part of the best defensive quintet three times (2012, 2013 and 2014).
