Italy beats Tunisia to win the International Tournament of the Two Seas

FRANCAVILLA FONTANA (TARANTO) – The march of Coach Fanizza’s men’s national team to the next Universiade, which will be held from July 28th to August 8th in Chengdu, China. The Azzurri prevailed against the selection led by Mr. Giacobbe and achieved the third success in as many games at the International Tournament of the Two Seas: Recine and his companions therefore welcome Puglia with another positive performance and complete the work of the Taranto Foundation. Not an easy game for coach Fanizza’s boys, who managed well the advantage they had developed in the opening two sets; In the third and final set, the opponents managed to take the lead from the start, but the Azzurri were undeterred and turned the set around in the final break and won the game. In the other game, Japan defeated the Netherlands in a tie-break 3-2 (17:25, 25:23, 22:25, 25:19, 15:12). Italy finished the event undefeated.

The new star from Nagga, Tunisia, restores the equalizer and this time it’s coach Fanizza who calls the time-out (20-20). Seize the hands of the Tunisian Wall Recine and Italy takes +2 (22-20); New break for coach Giacobbe. Italy manages the lead well, ending the set 25-23.
In the second set, another sprint start for the Azzurri, taking Magalini’s diagonal first and Vitelli’s block to +3 (5-2). The Kadhi subnet is not wrong and allows Tunisia to close the gap (8-7). Recine fails to get her down, the opponents take advantage of this to bring the part back even (11-11). Vitelli’s ace first and Cortesia’s winning block later gave Italy another +2 lead (15-13). First turn of the set as Tunisia took the lead (9-10) with Ben Sumane’s ace. Nagga scores another ace and Tunisia goes up by 2 (11-13). Porro’s next attack hits Ben Slimane’s block and Coach Fanizza uses the time-out (11-14). Azzurri in trouble: Coach Fanizza changes diagonal, replacing Porro and Gironi with Held and Salsi (12-15). Recine doesn’t miss his attack and the Azzurri go to -1 (17-18); Time-out requested by coach Giacobbe. Vitelli doesn’t miss his block and Italy restores the temporary equalizer (22-22). At the end of a long rally, Recine takes advantage of the opposing block’s hands to put the ball on the ground; Italy take the lead and coach Giacobbe calls for a second time-out (23-22). Vitelli’s Ace explodes the Palasport and the Azzurri go up to +2 (24-22). Porro closes with his block, the set ends with a score of 25-22.
